Danish champion Anders Thomsen raced to 14 points for Sønderjylland Elite Speedway as the Vojens club became the first winners of the brand-new Metal Speedway League Cup.

In the team’s first season back on the shale since 2011, SES lifted the trophy in Fjelsted, with Thomsen dropping just a point from five rides, while German racer Kai Huckenbeck also starred on 12.

Mads Hansen notched nine, Nicolai Klindt scored seven and Jesper Knudsen added six as Vojens totalled 48 points in the four-team tournament.

Slangerup took second spot on 36 with Rohan Tungate registering 10 points, while Michael Jepsen Jensen notched nine.

Holsted claimed third place on 28 as triple world champion Nicki Pedersen led the charge on 11, while Rasmus Jensen recorded eight.

Home side Fjelsted finished on four with Marcus Birkemose their best performer on eight points.
