HANCOCK: MAGIC READY FOR TITLE CHARGE

Four-time champion Greg Hancock insists Polish icon Maciej Janowski is “ready now” to land his first FIM Speedway Grand Prix world title.

Four-time world champion Greg Hancock insists Polish icon Maciej Janowski is “ready now” to land his first FIM Speedway Grand Prix World Championship.

Janowski stormed to victory in the series-opening Anlas Czech Republic SGP round one on Friday night.

He will hope to repeat that result this afternoon when round two is restarted from heat one at 13:00 CET / 12:00 UK following Saturday’s postponement.

I honestly think he is really the man to keep Bartosz Zmarzlik on his toes this season, alongside Tai Woffinden. He is absolutely flying right now.

Greg Hancock

Hancock knows what it takes to win the sport’s biggest prize and has worked with Janowski since he was a youngster.

The Californian is making regular visits to Europe again after joining the Wroclaw coaching team for this year. And he’s impressed with what he sees from his former apprentice, who is seeking to join the sport’s World Championship-winning masters.

Hancock told Speedway Star and Monster Energy: “Everyone knows Magic is a personal favourite of mine and he’s someone I’ve mentored since he was young. I honestly think he is really the man to keep Bartosz Zmarzlik on his toes this season, alongside Tai Woffinden. He is absolutely flying right now.

“It doesn’t matter if he makes the start or not at the minute; it’s just a case of when he wins and not if. His mental state, his physical state; he has got absolutely everything in place right now to win it.

“He’s in such a good place in his life. He has got a brilliant set-up with his team, his home life; he has got everything he needs to do it, so now he just has to make sure he brings it all together. He’s ready now; I really believe that.”
