BRITISH FINAL LINE-UP REVEALED

Six British champions and a host of Great Britain internationals line up at the British Championship Final in Manchester on August 16.

Six British champions and a host of Great Britain internationals line up at the British Championship Final in Manchester on Monday, August 16.

Belle Vue star Dan Bewley takes on the nation’s finest on his home track as he comes up against the likes of defending champion Rory Schlein, as well as a host of former winners – seven-time winner Scott Nicholls, triple champion Chris Harris, Craig Cook, Danny King and Charles Wright.

I believe the line-up is stronger this year because the top British boys are back. I’ll be there to defend the title on a track I very much like in Belle Vue. I’m looking forward to it.

The field also features GP Challenge finalist Adam Ellis and in-form Richard Lawson, who finished second in 2020. Belle Vue brothers Steve and Richie Worrall, Lewis Kerr, Kyle Howarth, Anders Rowe, Edward Kennett and Ben Barker complete the line-up, with Josh Bates and Paul Starke named as reserves.

But FIM Speedway Grand Prix stars Tai Woffinden and Robert Lambert, who currently do not race in the UK, sit out their national final once again.

Schlein can’t wait for the chance to compete for title No.2 in what is set to be his final season on the shale. And he’s expecting a tougher battle after a number of riders missed the 2020 Final due to the pandemic.

He said: “I believe the line-up is stronger this year because the top British boys are back. I’ll be there to defend the title on a track I very much like in Belle Vue. I’m looking forward to it.”

Meanwhile Belle Vue CEO Adrian Smith added: “We are delighted to welcome back the British Final to Manchester’s National Speedway Stadium for the sixth consecutive season. As we are privileged to witness on a weekly basis here at Belle Vue, this track never fails to deliver some of the most exciting racing at all levels of the sport.

“We anticipate this year will be every bit as thrilling as previous meetings, even more so now that we are able to welcome back our spectators in unrestricted circumstances.

“And with the calibre of field gathered for the 2021 event, which includes four British BikeRight Aces, we are certain this will be a highlight of the British Speedway calendar this year.”

The draw will be confirmed in the near future.
