World Under-21 champion Jaimon Lidsey admits he’s set for a few weeks on the sidelines after suffering “a serious concussion” in Daugavpils on Sunday.

Lidsey clashed with Latvian international Jevgenijs Kostigovs in heat nine of Polish Second Division club Rawicz’s trip to the Latvian club.

The Aussie was lining up for Rawicz – feeder club of PGE Ekstraliga champions Leszno, who did not have a fixture that day.

Although I have suffered a serious concussion that will take time to recover, I am more than grateful to say I avoided any broken bones or further injuries.

The SGP second series reserve was taken to hospital by ambulance and is now set for a stint on the sidelines.

Posting on his official Facebook page, Lidsey revealed he suffered no broken bones in the incident. He wrote: “Hi everyone, as many of you may already know, I was involved in a bad crash in Daugavpils on Sunday.

“Although I have suffered a serious concussion that will take time to recover, I am more than grateful to say I avoided any broken bones or further injuries.

“Currently back home and starting on my recovery. Thank you to everyone for the messages, phone calls and ongoing support.

“After a few weeks on the sidelines, I’m hopeful to get back into racing and to see you all on track soon. Thank you.”

Lidsey’s absence comes as a blow to Leszno, who are closing in on the PGE Ekstraliga play-offs and will be keen to get the former Aussie Under-21 champion back in time for September’s title run-in.
