WOFFY CELEBRATES NEW POLISH DEAL BY STARRING IN SWEDEN

Tai Woffinden celebrated a new three-year contract with Polish play-off finalists Wroclaw by piling up the points in Sweden for Dackarna.

Triple world champion Tai Woffinden celebrated a new three-year contract with Polish play-off finalists Wroclaw by piling up the points in Sweden as Dackarna took charge of their Bauhaus Elitserien quarter final.

The men from Malilla triumphed 48-42 away to Lejonen in the first leg on Tuesday with Woffinden leading the charge on 12 paid 13 points.

That sizeable haul came just hours after he secured his PGE Ekstraliga future with Wroclaw – penning a deal that runs through to the end of 2024. Posting the news on Instagram, he wrote: “Secured my place for the next three years at @WTSSparta. Stoked to sign again and can’t wait to see how we go.”

As well as leading Wroclaw into the PGE Ekstraliga final against Lublin as they bid to win their first league title since 2006, he is also hoping to help Dackarna land their first Elitserien crown since 2007.

He was well supported in Gislaved tonight as Jason Doyle picked up 12, while Maciej Janowski added 11 and USA star Luke Becker scored six paid seven.

Local favourite Oliver Berntzon scored a fantastic 14 for Lejonen, with Rohan Tungate, Mathias Thornblom and Nicolai Klindt all contributing seven apiece to the Lions’ tally.

In the day’s other quarter final, Finnish star Timo Lahti warmed up for his Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations Semi-Finals this Friday by bagging 13 points for Rospiggarna as they beat Vetlanda 48-42 in Hallstavik.

Polish star Adrian Miedzinski backed him up on 11 points, with Kim Nilsson tallying 10; SGP 2022 qualifier Patryk Dudek registering seven paid eight, and German star Kai Huckenbeck collecting seven.

Former world No.4 Rune Holta top-scored for the visitors on eight paid 10, with Brady Kurtz adding eight paid nine.

The return legs take place next Tuesday.
