Polish shooting star Dominik Kubera racked up a sensational 16 paid 17 points for Lublin as they held Wroclaw to a 45-45 draw in the first leg of the PGE Ekstraliga play-off final on Thursday.
In the biggest club meeting in Lublin’s history, the home side were forced to compete without the injured Grigorii Laguta in their first PGE Ekstraliga final.
But Kubera stepped up superbly as the double Orlen Lublin SGP finalist racked up four wins and a paid victory from seven rides.
He was well supported by European champion Mikkel Michelsen, who collected 12 points from six.
But table-topping Wroclaw, chasing their first league title since 2006, made themselves favourites to take gold at the Olympic Stadium, with SGP star Maciej Janowski leading their score chart on 11 paid 12 points.
Young guns Dan Bewley and Gleb Chugunov both impressed on 10 paid 11 apiece, while Tai Woffinden scored seven and SGP World Championship leader Artem Laguta registered five paid six.
The second leg takes place on Sunday evening, while Gorzow host Leszno, with the home side holding a 49-41 lead going into the second leg of the bronze medal play-off.
